
Jessica Ann Simpson Johnson, born July 10, 1980, is an American actor, singer as well as entrepreneur and philanthropist. Simpson at 17 years old at the time, began her singing career in choirs of the church. She signed with Columbia Records in 1997. Sweet Kisses, her first album as a studio artist, came out in 1999. It was a huge success, selling two million copies in the United States. She also achieved commercial success through the single "I Want to Love You Forever". Simpson changed her image for her sophomore studio album, Irresistible (2001), and its title track became her second highest-rated entry on the Billboard Hot 100, while the album was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). This Skin (2003) was her third studio album. It sold 3 million copies in the United States. In the beginning of her career, Simpson became known for her relationship with and later marriage to Nick Lachey and Nick Lachey, with whom she was also a part of the MTV reality show Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica between 2003 between 2003 and 2005. Simpson made her movie debut in The Dukes of Hazzard (2006) as Daisy Duke after the release of ReJoyce: The Christmas Album (2004). The soundtrack of the film also included an original song called "These Boots Are Made For Walking". In 2006 she debuted her fifth studio album A Public Affair and appeared in the romantic comedy film Employee of the Month. Simpson began to move into country music after the release her sixth studio album, Do You Know (2008). Simpson created The Jessica Simpson Collection in 2005. It was a line that focused on fashion with 34 categories of merchandise. To date, the brand has earned over $1 billion in revenue and is the most successful licensed brand for celebrities in history. Simpson was also a participant on The Price of Beauty, a reality television show in 2010. She was also the judge for the clothes designs for Fashion Star 2 and 3. Simpson is married to Eric Johnson, with whom she has three children.
